Who Am I? Why Should You Read This?

I've been directly operating and managing affordable multifamily assets for over 10 years. This includes:

  • Building property budgets and business plans from scratch
  • Hiring and directing the property management teams on site
  • Visiting properties and assessing capital needs
  • Executing on the business plans to drive profitable performance for every asset
  • Reporting to investor groups regarding asset performance and long-term expectations
  • Capital transactions, interest purchases, refinancings, and dispositions

No two assets are exactly alike, and a few cause significantly more problems/headaches than others.

During my years of operating these unique assets, I've developed organizational structers and best practices to drive financial performance and ultimately increase value to residents and stakeholders.

I'll share my unfiltered thoughts, insights, and experience to help asset and portfolio managers do the same for their assets.

What Is Affordable Housing?

"Affordable Housing" is a generic term used to describe real estate that is subidized in some form compared to "traditional" market rate real estate.

Affordable housing can be made affordable through the acquisition, construction, & development process with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), or the rent can be made affordable through subsidy programs (HUD Project-Based Section 8, Tenant Protection Vouchers, etc.)
